Peter is an author and an illustrator, so he is a big fan of words and pictures. For this reason, he has included a LOT of them on this website! If you need some help finding your way around, please read our Frequently Asked Questions below. Hopefully our answers will point you in the right direction.
“What about a Skype visit?”
Peter loves meeting kids and talking books, so he sets aside as much time as he can for school visits. But when he’s at home, Peter is usually in his studio, hard at work on his next book, so unfortunately, he is not available for web sessions.
“I have written a story for kids. Will you create the artwork for it?”
If you are an author in need of an illustrator, please go HERE!
“I am at the beginning of my writing and illustrating career. How do I get published?”
Peter has some TIPS that might help you get started.
“Can I have a poster or print of this page in your book?”
At this time, Peter is unable to print images for individual requests. But he has many great prints already available HERE.
“What is your illustration process?”
Peter uses both classic and modern forms of artwork in the creation of his books. He usually begins by painting with ink, watercolor, or gouache. He then scans the images into his computer, where he can adjust them to fit the scene exactly how he wants. Check out THIS VIDEO for a more detailed look at his process.
“How do you come up with the ideas for your books?”
Peter takes inspiration from the world around him. That could mean anything from a very big tree, to a very busy bird, to a towering city building. For The Curious Garden, for example, Peter was inspired by an elevated park built upon old train tracks near his home in New York.
“What’s your next project?”
Peter is currently working on his first novel for kids. Stay tuned!
